Moonroof was a term coined by The Ford Motor Company when they put glass instead of a solid panel that most cars of the period had. Sunroof and moonroof are now interchangeable terms unless you own a Ford. Then it's a Moonroof. Although, the dictionary would define a sunroof as a panel that can be opened or slid back and a moonroof as just a fixed panel of glass in the roof of a vehicle.
